Not Bumper Cars...

So last night as I was driving home with Anna tucked safely in her carseat I was rear-ended. This is the second time in like 2 years that this has happened to me. The first time the other car was barely moving when he hit me so we just exchanged insurance/names and that was that. Well he stiffed me by not responding to insurance stuff and I hadn't filed a police report so I was basically out of luck. Well this time...I wasn't taking any chances. I called the police. It is very weird to dial 911. Have you ever done that? I was shaking from the crash and was worried about Anna. She was fine. Not a peep. I on the other hand have a very sore lower back. It certainly was not like bumper cars! So here is to another new bumper for Peg...my Jeep. :)

Demanded Recipes :)

Soooo since i am amazing (right) here are two recipes that are very simple and delish. I can't claim any kind of credit for either just hope that you enjoy. :)

Cowboy Caviar

1 can shoe peg corn (drained)

1 can black beans (drained and washed)

1/2 bunch cilantro

5 roma tomatoes

2 green onions (chopped)

2 Tbsp red wine vinegar

1 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp tabasco (add more if you like it spicy)

2 avocadoes

Serve with chips!

Oreos

1 Devils food cake mix

1/2 cup shortening (cut in well)

2 eggs

Frosting

Mix by hand (I do this literally. Very messy but works well)

Spray Pam on your hands and roll into 1/2 in balls and bake at 350 for 9 min

Drop pan on counter to flatten cookies

Frost and "Oreo"

Friends at the Ranch

We went to my family's ranch this weekend with a bunch of friends from our ward. We had a blast up there and can't wait to go again. We stayed up way too late and ate too much! I am so grateful to have such great friends to make such fun memories with. Life is better with friends. :)

Birthdays and Chuck E Cheese

So Anna's birthday was on October 18 and it has literally taken me since then to find my camera. Most of the pictures I took were of course blurry and of the top or back of her head but this one is a good example of how into her cake she was this year. She was literally eating it for 30 minutes straight. I think that is a record for her attention span. My mom makes great cakes! Anyways, we had a blast with tons of little cousins and about a million tokens...

I Did It...

So I actually did something that I didn't think I could do. I went 10 days with no food. I am so excited to get to eat tomorrow so don't worry. I am not anorexic or anything. I just did the Master Cleanse with my friend Cindy. It is that diet/cleanse where you just have lemon juice/organic maple syrup/cayenne pepper and water and nothing else. It was what Kelly on The Office was doing when she passed out. :) I feel great. I am off caffeine and hope to stay that way. I have tons of energy and I am mostly just proud of myself for having the will power to actually do it. I have tried doing it twice before. The first time I was so addicted to caffeine that I didn't make it a day. The second time I stopped after three days. This time 10 WHOLE DAYS!!!

So long...

So I have worked at Firstline Security since June 2003. I had about a 3 week maternity leave in 2006 and have been there part time since then. I have seen them through their ups and their downs. I got to go to Kauai twice and Maui once on their dime and countless other awesome parties. But alas...I am excited to be just working part time from home now. I took down Anna's crib that was at Firstline today and broght my stuff home. She had her own little "office" there. (a pitch dark closet just big enough for a port-a-crib) She had some great 3 hour naps in there. My emotions are a little bittersweet but I am excited! I can't wait to see what comes next. :)

Stress + Hormones = Cold Sore

Ughhhh!!! I HAVE A COLD sore on my bottom lip. I started to feel it right before bed last night. Anyone who has to deal with cold sores knows the feeling. (Pulsing Sore Lip) I am blessed to have these terrible things pop up on my lips at the worst possible times. I even had one 5 days before my wedding. I have tried every drug out there to blast them. Lysine, Carmex, Anbesol, Abreva. Some are better than others but I have found THE miracle drug. I am surprised it is not more popular. It is by prescription only but your dentist can prescribe it. So I called my dentist early this morning and got a prescription for DENAVIR Cream...It makes cold sores go away in about 3 days. No kidding. You have to put it on right when you start to feel it. I was about 12 hours late but I can already tell that it is clearing up. Hurray for modern medicine!!!

Heavy!!

SO ANNA ALWAYS lifts things and grunts Hehhhveee (Heavy). Well the other day her face was bright red and she was bent over in the corner by the refrigerator(doing her business) and I asked her if she was going poopie. She gave a grunt of a yah followed by a really long

"It's Heeeehhhhh veeeeeyy."

I have been giving her lots of fruits and fruit juice so that things aren't so HeaVy. :) I almost died laughing but it was kind of sad.

My Recent ObSESSioN

These fabulous flavors from BaTH aNd BOdy wORkS make your home smell so amazing. I have tried a few of them and this is one of my favorites. The smells last for hours and they are relatively cheap!!

Oh Hunting Season...

 

So Morgan is obsessed with hunting and can't wait to kill a huge elk like this. We saw this champion on the side of the road on the way to Zion Natl Park and had to pull over so he could get a picture. A little WT but whatev!!

I Can't Believe Summer is Over

We caught some rays in St. George this weekend with bestest buddies Betsy and Danny or "Bessie" and "Annie" as Anna calls them. Only a few mishaps with a nasty freezer and one little girl getting locked in a closet. :) We had so much fun. Thanks McIffs!!

Pea-Lowes

I love that since Anna is really starting to talk her vocabulary is so funny. For example...she is obsessed with all things sugar. She particularly likes marshmellows like these.

Pagie, Jessie and I went to the AI concert last night. It was a pretty spontaneous thing. We got tickets late Saturday and ended up on the 16th row on the floor. It was really fun and REALLY LOUD. My ears are still ringing from all the screaming girls for David Archuletta. It was fun though!!

So early on with Anna, I decided that I didn't want her to be one of those kids who has to have a specific blanket when she naps/sleeps so I have mixed them up and given her many options. Currently she has 6 blankies in her crib. I am crazy I know. She is the princess and the pea. Much to my dismay she has completely latched on to a blankie and calls for it when she is tired. Woe is me. It is a pink fleecy one with satin on one side. When we are in the car she likes to wrap it around her neck like a scarf and she would carry it with her at all times if I let her. So here is to not being able to control my little girl. Oh well...

A Walk in the Park

We got stir crazy today so we headed out to Bridal Veil Falls for a walk. Anna loved it. It is finally getting warmer so we took advantage. Anna kept referring to the raging Provo River as "Bubbles" Once we got to the falls she had to put her feet in and although freezing water she insisted in trying to climb in. We had to say goodbye to the "Bubbles" and got a few cute shots.

BYU Graduation

I am amazed at how many people have graduated from universities all over this country. We attended my fabulous brother-in-law Matt's graduation this morning and although it was long and a big hard with Anna trying to jump off the balcony in the Dejong Concert Hall, it was great. I remember my own graduation like 5 years ago. Holy crap...five years. I guess what I am getting at is that graduating is great. I think that just the accomplishment of finishing something so long and tedious is a feat in and of itself. The hard part is the reality that school is school and the real world is the real world. GOOD LUCK GRADUATES!!!

Ohhh Sunday

Today was a long day. It was Anna's first day in nursery and she abosolutely loved it. They needed a substitute and asked me if I would. It was crazy to say the least. I don't know that I could handle that every week. I had a cute experience this morning. I have been a little down lately. Not sure if it is hormones or just life...but Anna was looking for me and kept saying..uhhh Mama..uhh mama...uhh mama. It made me realize how lucky I am to have such a special little girl who loves me as her mommy. I am someone's mommy!!! It has been 18 Months since I had Anna, but I can now tell how much she loves and needs me, not just how much I love and need her....

Easter...

So Easter came and went and I barely had time to think. I made this cute cake with peeps and chocolate chips. Found the idea in my Taste of Home magazine. Anna loves peeps. She loves pretty much anything with sugar.

So Morgan is in Vegas at the Mountain West Tournament. His being gone has given me a chance to do pretty much whatever. So like a typical girl, I rented some chick flicks, put Anna down and vegged out. It was a nice change of pace. I have been working too much lately, but hopefully for not too much longer. I am just so grateful for my little family and the joy that they bring to me.

Dad and Anna in Kauai...Firstline took us to Kauai, HI in December. It was an absolute blast. Anna had so much fun playing in the sand and in the pool. Still pretty nervous about the waves. We were so grateful for the opportunity.
